Our Team

Wayne Sawchuk | Owner of MK Adventures | Conservationist | Trapper | Ex-logger

Wayne comes from a logging family, has a trap line on the Gataga River, and has spent his life on the land. For nearly four decades Wayne has led horse-back expeditions into BC’s Northern Rockies as a way to build awareness and support for this amazing wilderness. In the 1990s Wayne, along with many others, was instrumental in helping establish the 6.4 million hectare Muskwa-Kechika Management Area that now encompasses the northern Rockies, and he continues to advocate for the area’s protection today.

In recent years Wayne has dialed back his participation in the Expeditions. In 2023, he will be leading the Mayfield Wilderness Retreats. You can find out more about Wayne by visiting his website or by watching the CBC documentary In the Land of Dreamers.

Head Guides

Michelle Creegan-Dougherty | Guide & Farrier

Michelle is a horse whispering guide and an all-around badass. She has worked with Wayne wrangling and guiding horseback expeditions for the past fifteen summers. Michelle doesn’t stop smiling through 14-hour days in unforgiving wilderness for three straight months each year. She’s happiest on the back of a horse in open wilderness under big skies, sleeping under the stars, and taking care of Wayne’s 24 horse pack-string.

Alex Lepp | Guide & Farrier

Alex is an experienced wilderness guide, farrier, and jack of all trades. He is more at home in the mountains than in town and loves showing people the remote areas of the Muskwa-Kechika. After a decade of working for MK Adventures, Alex continues to promote wilderness conservation leading our expeditions on the trail.

Donna Kane | Client Relations

Donna is a writer and arts administrator who also happens to be Wayne’s wife. She assists MK Adventures from their Rolla Ranch and is responsible for client relations, expediting and other assorted duties.
